The British Normandy Memorial will host the national commemorative event marking D-Day 80 on 6 June 2024.
This year’s 80th anniversary will mark the first time the completed Memorial has been at the heart of major milestone commemorations.
The Standing with Giants installation among the wild flower meadows of the Memorial campus will be in place until end of August 2024.

A total of 1,475 silhouettes by 'Standing with Giants’ will appear in Spring 2024 at the British Normandy Memorial in Ver-sur-Mer, representing the number of fatalities under British command on 6 June 1944.

Read moreThe British Normandy Memorial records the names of the 22,442 servicemen and women under British command who fell on D-Day and during the Battle of Normandy in the summer of 1944. This includes people from more than 30 different countries. Inscribed in stone, their names have never, until now, been brought together. The site also includes a French Memorial, dedicated to the memory of French civilians who died during this time.
On 6 June 2021, 77 years on, an historic moment took place as the Memorial was officially opened.
A year later, on the 78th anniversary of D-Day, the Memorial was for the first time the focal point of the commemorations in Normandy, as a place where people could come together to remember and reflect. This film below contains highlights of the day, including the morning service and evening concert, attended by Veterans, dignitaries and the general public.
From the very beginnings of an idea to a place of serene beauty where people will gather to remember and reflect for generations to come.
